The Souls of Black Folk by DuBois is an interesting literary work from the African American Literature and still now it is believed to be an American classic. This is considered to be a seminal work, one that has grabbed the attention of many critics. From a social science perspective also this work is of immense importance. I was particularly moved by the idea of “double consciousness” which the author has used in this book. There is a high probability that this has been taken from the works of Ralph Waldo Emerson. This book is more like a compilation of Essays which are about race.
